Faraja’s Centre Daycare welcomes children below the age of 2 years old. As a means of enabling young mothers to attend classes during the day, Faraja established a daycare centre for their children in 2012. As a result, while the young women attend classes, their children are cared for in the Montessori daycare centre, which is located on the same grounds. Teen mothers can focus on their classes, vocational training, or educational pursuits without the worry of constantly tending to their children. This can significantly improve their academic performance and overall learning experience. They can have peace of mind, knowing that their children are well-cared for in a safe and nurturing environment.

Faraja's Montessori Daycare Impact

Based on Montessori values, the children learn to be self-reliant and responsible, as well as to develop a strong social mindset (e.g., the older ones support the younger ones) and personality. They are given special care, they learn hygiene, how to eat properly, how to play with other kids, share, and how to walk with balance. Additionally, the daycare supports them in improving their language by reading them stories and listening to songs and poems which are read to them. Faraja offers structured programs that promote early childhood development, including social, cognitive, and motor skills. Children may engage in activities that help them prepare for formal education. The main purpose of the Montessori daycare is to allow their mothers to attend classes and workshops, however, a few children from the neighbourhood are admitted to being a part of the daycare as well, to foster diversity and sharing of different views. Plus, having children from outside attending the daycare contributes to sustaining income for Faraja.

Having a daycare at Faraja not only benefits teen mothers in their pursuit of education and vocational training but also supports the overall well-being and development of their children. It can be a critical component in helping teen mothers achieve their educational and career goals while providing a nurturing environment for their children’s growth and development.
