Faraja Center has the mission of empowering young single mothers and vulnerable girls at risk in rural and urban areas. Thus we are undertaking the task of promoting human transformation by improving knowledge through education, health, livelihood and sustainable development.

OBJECTIVES

Faraja’s Programs
Montesory Teachers Collage
this two-year program, girls who wish to become Montessori kindergarten teachers are taught Montessori values,
The Tailoring & Handcrafting
This programs teach young women sewing and garment-making skills, enabling them to pursue careers in fashion or start their own businesses.
Cooking and housekeeping classes
Culinary training is provided to equip young women with cooking skills and knowledge for employment in the food industry.
Hair Dressing & Cosmetics
The training in hairdressing, styling, and cosmetics, empowers young women to enter the beauty industry.
English, Mathematics, Computer Entrepreneurship and Body language
we are committed to providing a comprehensive range of classes and training programs to empower and uplift young women.
Day - Care
Faraja’s Centre Daycare welcomes children below the age of 2 years old. As a means of enabling young mothers to attend classes during the day,

Navigating Sexual and Reproductive Wellness, First Aid, and Child Health from Jan 2024
Faraja Young Women Development Organization will introduce bi-monthly classes from January 2024, addressing Sexual and Reproductive Health, First Aid, and Child Health for teen mothers. The program aims to impart vital skills and knowledge in first aid, reproductive health, contraception, parenting, and emotional well-being. Ultimately, the goal is to empower young mothers to make informed decisions, cultivate healthy relationships, and create nurturing environments for their children.

Katrina Biglin, a recent graduate from the United States, spent a fulfilling four months volunteering at the Faraja Young Women Development Organization in Arusha, Tanzania. As an educator, she taught English to the young women, fostering strong bonds beyond the classroom. Despite challenges, she implemented systems for attendance and accountability. Katrina also dedicated time to fundraising and marketing efforts, leaving a positive impact on the organization. Beyond her volunteer work, she explored Tanzania’s beauty, climbing Kilimanjaro and experiencing a Serengeti safari. Katrina reflects on her time as transformative, both personally and professionally, making her decision to work abroad a rewarding experience.
